Sub 70 Announce 699 & 699 Pro V3 Irons

Sub 70 Pro V3

Sub 70 Golf founder Jason Hiland has just unveiled the much-anticipated third iteration of the 699 & 699 Pro irons, set for release in early 2025. In a surprise announcement, Hiland gave golfers a sneak peek at the new irons, addressing a wave of demand from Sub 70 fans.

Upgraded Forged Face

The standout feature of the new 699 V3 irons is the upgraded face, which is now forged and CNC milled. According to Hiland, the new design allows for better ball speed across the entire face, offering more distance than the previous models. This is achieved through Variable Face Thickness (VFT), which optimizes the flex of the face for maximum energy transfer.

Bringing Back The Clean Lines of V1

In addition to the technological improvements, the aesthetics have also been refined based on customer feedback. The stabilizing bars, which were external in earlier versions, have been moved inside the clubhead, creating a cleaner, more streamlined appearance.

This is a welcome return to the styling of the V1 model as many fans, myself included, felt that the V2 irons took a step back aesthetically.

“This isn’t just about looks,” Hiland explained. “By moving the stabilizing bars inside, the face flexes more effectively, and less energy is lost into the head, resulting in more distance and a better feel.”

It looks as though you’ll still get the option of the black or satin chrome finish

Workability of the 699 Pro

For those seeking a combination of power and precision, the 699 Pro version will offer even more control and workability, making it an ideal choice for lower-handicap players who demand shot-shaping capabilities.

“This is truly the best of both worlds,” Hiland emphasized. “You get the distance and forgiveness, but with the pro model, you also get the ball flight control that advanced players want.”

Early 2025 Release Date

Sub 70 fans can expect the new 699 & 699 Pro irons to hit the market in early 2025, and if the early buzz is any indication, they’re likely to be a huge hit.
